I never feel quite as challenged as a photographer as when I photograph my own children. It would seem that I could do an even better job with them because I know exactly what might make them smile or stay in place… rather knowing them too well becomes a bit of a handicap. You see, when I take pictures of other people’s kids they are a little bit intrigued to be meeting this new, crazy lady… she talks about funny things, makes weird faces, crawls around on the ground…. my kids are all too used to that and so all my ploys to get them to cooperate are wasted!
I have to admit that I had to stoop to a low of bribing my 3 yr old with marshmallows- like one marshmallow for every single time she followed my direction… bad mom? I argue no… just desperate to finish a photo session!

I am happy with what I got in the end (totally LOVING my new D300 and 28mm f/2.8 lens!!!) Aren’t they growing up too fast? Here’s my sweeties, 3 yrs old and 6 mos old. Geesh!

I am SO in love with the lay-flat press books that I recently ordered for an engagement session. These books are so gorgeous! Leather covers in a crazy multitude of colors… choices of matte/glossy/pearl pages… unlimited layout options…. I just LOVE them!
I thought I would share an example of my most recent book. This one is an 8×8 book- just perfect for showing off at work or to keep out on the coffee table. The cover is a black genuine leather with black fabric interior. These pages are glossy, but I have another with matte pages and love it just as much!

Pretty, huh?

And here is a comparison of the 8×8 book (bottom) versus the 5×5 brag book (top). The 5×5 is small, but is a great idea for a Grandparent gift, or maybe just to keep in your purse.

This 5×5 book was designed as a parent brag book to show off their gorgeous new baby girl

And just because I’m in the mood to share (okay, show off… LOL). Here is a Save the Date card I made this fall. This is a 5×7 postcard w/ one high-gloss side. The bride elected to mail these in envelopes, but I could also design it with a blank spot for addressing and stamps.

Pretty cool, huh? I hope you love what you see! Contact me for more details on any of these items or any other products in my lineup.

It was a gorgeous day on Saturday and we took advantage of the break in the weather to take a stroll through downtown Owosso (surprisingly big and interesting downtown!)  Emma and Chris are so obviously in love, it was easy to work with them and get them laughing and kissing.  They were troopers when I asked them to trudge through the melting snow or walk on an icy pass- all for the great shot!  Thanks guys!  (I hope you’ll agree that it was totally worth it!)  Their wedding is coming up in June and I can’t wait to work with them (and their super wedding party) again!

I’m a day late posting this sneak peek for you there are a few extras!  More to come later this week.  Hope you love them!

Chris said, “I never thought I’d have my picture taken under a bridge like this.”  Hah!  He should have known better… LOL. (It was a bit gross under there!)
